Emery E. Campbell Award

Emery E.Campbell served as a San Diego Police officer from May 10, 1912, until his line of duty death August 27, 1913. Officer Cambell died from a massive loss of blood after being shot in the neck while effecting an arrest. Despite being mortally wounded, Officer Campbell fought with the homicidal suspect until backup officers arrived. His actions prevented the deaths of innocent civilians and other officers. Had he retreated it is likely he would have survived his wound.
