Commissioner Knight is a retired Los Angeles County Deputy Sheriff and has more than 100 years of law enforcement history in his family.

Commissioner Knight is also a world renowned badge expert and a successful businessman in North San Diego County.

His great great great grandfather, James Knight, was part of Andrews Raiders during the Civil War. His actions made him one of the first members of the US military to be awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor by President Abraham Lincoln. The heroism of his team was later detailed in three movies, first in the 1906 film of the same name as well as the 1926 Buster Keaton film “The General” and the 1958 classic “The Great Locomotive Chase.”
